“PURE NORTHERN MICHIGAN”
A three day/two night tour of beautiful
Northern Michigan
FRIDAY, JUNE 21 to SUNDAY, JUNE 23
The Travel Committee has planned a one of a kind tour to Northern Michigan. After leaving the Women’s City Club at 8:00 a.m., we will stop in Cadillac for a mid-morning coffee and delicious sweet rolls before heading to our first stop at the Gwen Frostic’s Print Studio in Benzonia. We will enjoy a wildlife sanctuary on the Betsie River as well as a building of native stone, glass and wood with authentic wild bird carvings. Lunch will be on your own at the Cherry Hut in Beulah before we make our way to the charming village of Glen Arbor where we can explore the quaint shops and stop at the popular Cherry Republic, a gourmet shop filled with cherry products and gifts. We will check into the Country Inn & Suites in Traverse City for a two night stay. Dinner is included at Boone’s Long Lake Inn, a destination restaurant that you won’t want to miss.
After our included breakfast, we will head to Charlevoix, “The Beautiful” for a professional guided tour around the fairytale mushroom houses of Earl Young, who like Frank Lloyd Wright designed each home to fit into the natural surroundings. In Charlevoix you will be able to explore the shops and have lunch before boarding the Keweenaw Star for a two hour cruise around Lake Charlevoix, Round Lake and Lake Michigan. We will head back to our comfortable hotel where there are many interesting restaurants within walking distance.
After another delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will spend the morning at The Village of Grand Traverse Commons, a distinctive renovation of dozens of historic buildings of the former Traverse City State Hospital/North Michigan Asylum. We will have time to purchase lunch before heading back to Grand Rapids all too soon for our arrival at 5:00 p.m. back at the Women’s City Club.
The cost of the tour is $399 based on double occupancy. For reservations contact Gail Andrus Travel at (616) 363.9835 by May 10.
HAPPY TRAVEL!!!
